Labyrinth specifications

The St. Peter’s Labyrinth is the 8 circuit “Vision Quest” from Labyrinth Company in Kensington CT and based on the Chartres design.

The 13-ton “easy to install kit” presented a few challenges to our installers.

  • Centering the kit within the concrete curbs and to the monolith stone that is slightly off center.
  • Custom cutting and fitting brick pieces around the monolith and the perimeter.
Diameter 30 feet
Path Length 464 feet
Round trip 927 feet = .18 mile
Capacity 8 - 12 walkers
Materials Concrete paver bricks in Red and Gray

Building the Labyrinth

The labyrinth project included landscaping between the Church and the Celebration Hall and incorporated a retention basin for rain water runoff from the Celebration Hall.

Due to the soil type and arid climate we decided to stabalize the labyrinth and walkways by using a concrete base and curb around all bricks and pavers.

The walkways to and into the labyrinth are lined with memorial bricks donated by parishners, family, friends, and neighbors.

The 9 foot monolith stone is unique to the labyrinth with 6 feet above ground and 3 feet embedded in concrete. Two videos of the stone placement are available on "THE MONOLITH" menu.
